Thats What Lars Said

I'm on fire.

My last class consisted of an philosophical discussion of valentines day, so yes I’m going to do the unofficially mandatory Valentine’s Day Post.

I don’t love it or hate it. Yes it’s cute. Yes it is a Hallmark holiday created for them to make money. My friend Steph pointed out that it’s a bit showy. And as my teacher said in class it uses material objects to put value on your relationship. This makes the day not only crappy for people who are single, but also for those who do have a significant other. Because they feel obligated to spend a lot of money to show their loved one how much they care. And if they don’t spend a lot of money, it can be taken as that’s how much they care about the relationship. Essentially the best way to tackle the holiday is to treat it as just another day of the week. (And buy a lot of discounted candy tomorrow).

Now to bring up another topic that I was discussing with my friend recently. Can you have feelings for more than one person at the same time. And my answer is yes. Yes you can. But what separates feelings and love is choice. Because the person you love is the person you choose to be with in the end.

This is one of my favorite love stories. And it was told in under 5 minutes:

P.S. As a side note I’ve seen more guys complaining about Valentines Day on facebook then girls, which I didn’t expect.
